Facilities

Our goal is to provide clean, comfortable, safe, and well-designed facilities for students and staff, creating an optimal environment where every student can achieve their full potential. We believe that the quality of our school facilities directly impacts student learning and success.

At Robla School District, we are committed to ensuring that our facilities support educational equity. We recognize that well-maintained and thoughtfully designed school buildings are crucial to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Our Facilities Master Plan is guided by an equity focus, ensuring that all students have access to the same high-quality educational spaces.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide clean, comfortable, safe, and well-designed facilities for students and staff, creating an optimal environment where every student can achieve their full potential. We believe that the quality of our school facilities directly impacts student learning and success.

Bond Measure H
In November 2018, the Robla community overwhelmingly passed Measure H, a general obligation bond that provided $46.2 million for facilities construction, modernization, and upgrades across our district. This funding has enabled us to:

  • Reconstruct Robla, Bell, and Taylor Schools and modernize Glenwood.
  • Upgrade classrooms to meet 21st-century standards.
  • Improve student safety and security across all campuses.
  • Enhance lighting, windows, heating, and ventilation systems.
  • Position the district to compete for additional state grants.

Completed Projects
Thanks to Measure H, we have successfully completed several key projects:

  • Main Avenue Elementary School: Full reconstruction and modernization.
  • Robla Elementary School: Comprehensive rebuilding and modernization.
  • Bell Avenue Elementary School: Complete rebuilding and modernization.
  • Glenwood Elementary School: Classroom modernization to 21st-century standards.
  • Taylor Street Elementary School: Classroom modernization to 21st-century standards.

Current and Upcoming Projects
We are actively working on several critical projects to enhance our school facilities further:

  • Bell Avenue Pre-School: Reconstruction and modernization of the preschool facility, along with new construction of administrative offices funded by the District General Fund.
  • Main Avenue Elementary School: Construction of six new TK/PK classrooms.
  • Shade Structures and Playground Installations: New shade structures at Robla, Bell, Glenwood, and Taylor Schools, and new playground installations at Bell, Glenwood, and Taylor Schools.
  • Robla Elementary School Play Fields: Resurfacing and irrigation improvements.

Future Facilities Needs
Looking ahead, we are focused on addressing the following needs:

  • Taylor Street Elementary School: Construction of new classrooms, kitchen, and multipurpose room.
  • Bell Avenue Elementary School: Expansion of playground space, and construction of a new multipurpose room and kitchen.
  • Glenwood Elementary School: Addition of new classrooms and office space for special services.
  • Robla Elementary School: Exterior repainting of older classroom buildings that were not reconstructed.
  • Panhandle Residential Development: Preparing for the anticipated enrollment of 227 students, necessitating the addition of nine future classrooms.

Why Equity Matters in Facilities Planning

Research has shown that the quality of school facilities significantly impacts student achievement. School districts with limited financial resources, like ours, often face challenges in maintaining facilities due to restricted access to capital. This can lead to higher maintenance costs, diverting funds from essential instructional needs. By prioritizing equity in our facilities planning, we aim to provide all students with safe, modern, and resilient learning environments that foster academic success.

Funding Our Facilities
The Robla School District finances 50% of the cost of new school construction and 40% of modernization projects through various funding sources, including:

  • General Obligation Bonds
  • Developer Fees/Mello-Roos
  • Federal and State Grants
  • District General Fund

We are committed to exploring all available financial options to ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and educational effectiveness.
