welcome to this video about the students work for the summit of English language proficiency assessments for California lpac this video will help you and your child understand the 2017-18 summative lpac student score report summative Pac measures how well students in kindergarten through 12th understand English when it is not their primary language districts will receive a student score report for each student approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the contractor received the test materials these reports will be provided to parents within 30 days after the district received the student score reports from the contractor the score report has two pages the first page contains your child's current score and a breakdown of your child scores into an oral language score and a written language score the second page contains information about the impact the lpac levels and ways to help your child in this video we will go through the score report have a sample student we have named Juneau Alaska Juneau is in the sixth grade let's look at the first page of Juno score report the gold band in the top four of the score report provided to look at Juno's overall score and her resulting lpac level and also briefly describes the English skills of that elk Pack level is in level three students at this level have money we developed English scale you'll find a more detailed description of the lpac levels when we get to page 2 of the score report the area on the left again shows Juno's overall score and alpaca level it shows overall score on a chart that illustrates do you know score in relation to the Cup points for the different lpac levels for her grade parents and teachers can use this chart to see how close do you know is to the next because Jenna was taking the summit of lpac For the First Time a box explaining this fact appears in this section if Jenna takes the summit of el pack in future years this section will show her score history just below the area showing Juno's overall scores we can see two boxes that contain Juno's oral language score and written language score on the left oral language score section 4 chart showing Juno's oral language score in relation to the different Alpac levels the oral language score is a combination of the listening and speaking performance below the chart the report provides a table with Jen apartments in the domains of listening and speaking indicating with a check mark whether Juno demonstrates English skills that are beginning somewhat or moderately developed or well-developed for a child at her grade level on the right the written language score section provides a chart showing Juno's written language score in relation to the different lpac levels the written language score is a combination of the reading and writing performance the chart the report provides a table with junos performance in the domains of reading and writing a check mark shows Juno's level of English skills for a child at her grade level answers can use the information about a child's performance listening speaking reading and writing noted in these two sections to understand the areas where a child is doing well and we're a child may need more support at the bottom of the page there are two notes these nuts next to the title of a domain in the event that there were special circumstances that affected the administration of a portion of your child's assessment if an asterisk appears next to the title of a domain it means that an alternate assessment was used the administration of this domain this alternate assessment is the way that your child's individualized education plan or IEP team determined that your child could best be assessed in one or more domains of the lpac if you have about the use of an alternate assessment for your child you should contact your child's school if a carrot appears next to the title of a domain it means that a testing irregularity happened during the administration of this domain if you have questions about the irregularity that occurred you should contact your child's School now I'll take a look at page two of the score report face to the lpac score report shows Juno's name Adam State student ID number date of birth grade and test day along with her school district and her schools County District school code North CBS code to the right of that information is a message from State superintendent of Public Instruction regarding the L packs role in the state of South mint system below the message from the state superintendent is a box that provides more information about the alpaca including what is alpaca who takes the summative assessment the table including the Alpac levels provides information about what students at the various elpac levels can typically do in English the report also provides a table showing the car Mission between the elpac levels and the English language development standards at the bottom of the page are recommendations of how you can help your child develop English skills your child alpaca results measure of English language proficiency that should be viewed with other available information such as classroom test assignments and grades can be used to talk with your child's teacher about his or her progress in English language development can be used by your child school to help determine whether a student is
