On February 23rd the Robla School District, in partnership with the Roberts Family Development Center, wrapped up its Black History Month celebration with a Parent Empowerment Dinner. Here are the highlights:
Families and participants enjoyed a live performance by the Harley White Trio-Featuring Stacy Carter (who also sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing"), and a hosted dinner prepared by Nutrition and Food Services
Black History month student essay contest award winners were announced, and student artwork was displayed. Essay winners (name of each students' school and teacher are in parentheses) include:

Gary S. May, Chancellor, University of California, Davis spoke about how higher education is attainable by all. He shared own story as a person of color and the obstacles he has faced on his journey to a leadership role at a major university.
