Robla Elementary Project

Robla Elementary is located at 5200 Marysville Road and is the northernmost school in the District. Facilities on the 8.6-acre site were first built in 1940 and the campus is surrounded on all sides by neighborhood streets: Rose Street to the west, Rood Avenue to the north, Ada Lane to the east, Claire Avenue to the southeast, and Marysville Boulevard to the southwest. The main campus entrance is on Marysville Boulevard, just east of its intersection with Rio Linda Boulevard, where a driveway entrance leads to eight parking spaces and room for 10 to 12 cars in a curbside loading lane, followed by another 8 parking spaces in front of the school’s main office on Rose Street.

Previously, the school consisted of ten (10) permanent and thirteen (13) portable classrooms for a total of twenty-three (23) classrooms, and multipurpose and administration facilities. The project has been envisioned to provide a 21st Century transformation of the Robla Elementary site. The desire is to create a campus that looks and feels integrated as a 21st Century school despite retaining some existing support spaces.

A two-story permanent classroom building is being constructed in the southern portion of the site. The new two-story building will consist of twelve (12) general purpose classrooms, each at 960 square feet, as well as a library/media center and new administrative office space, both of which will be approximately 1,350 square feet. In addition, the modular construction of three (3) kindergarten classrooms of approximately 1350 square feet each and seven (7) general purpose classrooms of 960 square feet each will be in two wings perpendicular to the new two-story building. The existing administrative space will be converted to support staff workspace for counselors, intervention specialists and speech professionals. Restrooms, storage, and are also under construction. Additional improvements for site work include a bus drop-off along Claire Avenue, a new drop off aisle and approximately 40 space parking lot in the front of the school, landscaping, courtyard, walkways and playground requirements.

Upon completion, Robla Elementary will contain a combined total of twenty-three (23) permanent classrooms along with additional administrative and support spaces in support of District specifications for K-6 facilities.
