On October 19th, 2017, Taylor St. School had its first meeting of Robla Journalism Club. As the young reporters were leaving, they noticed something was happening in the quad area at Taylor St. School.
The California Thursday celebration is part of the United Way Healthy Meals Program. Their goal is to teach kids about nutrition and to provide them with the tools necessary to support lifelong healthy habits.
Aldo Lazaro and Audrey Thao interviewed several participants. They learned that some of the volunteers went to nursing school, including Mrs. Tooth, Mrs. Toothbrush, and Mr. Toothpaste. These costumed nurses said, “We want to teach kids how to prevent tooth decay.”
Other volunteers were offering fresh produce, and families even had the opportunity to enjoy a nutritious, delicious complete meal for free!
The event was a success, and judging by the smiles, everyone seemed to have a great time!
