Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

SEL Wheel

Social emotional development plays a critical role in a child’s ability to access his/her learning environment. Our ability to understand this development and learn practices that support our students in this area are vitally important to our learning community. Robla is committed to providing ongoing social-emotional learning (SEL) to all staff members as well as students.  District wide staff professional development has been provided in topics such as trauma informed practices, suicide prevention procedures, positive behavior supports and data tracking in the classroom.  During the 2019-20 school year, focus has been on providing staff with training in the areas of resilience, compassion fatigue, teacher wellness and emotional self-care and its implications for the classroom.

Our students benefit from the training our staff members receive and also participate in SEL.  Through specially designed curriculums and programs, our students are learning to be better equipped to manage their own emotions, form healthy relationships, make good decisions and cope with everyday social and academic challenges.  Robla students learn to make friends, manage their emotions, solve problems and deal with peer pressure.

Robla is striving to provide a learning environment where every staff member and student feels valued, accepted and thrives in life!
